High Five for Friday!

Have you ever heard someone say, "Damnit, it's Friday already." Yeah, me neither. I feel like these posts always start out with a "Yay!" or a "Wow this week went by quickly!" so I thought I would get your attention by saying, "Stupid Friday, you came too quickly and I hate the weekends."

Except, I don't. At all.

After all the excitement last week with the in-laws hanging out with us, I was completely solo all week with lil' H as daddy had to travel for work. The quiet was actually rather nice after a super busy last week. Here's what we were up to:

1) If you checked out Wednesday's post, you saw I cooked. And then I cooked again! This time I made pan seared salmon with spicy blanched green beans. It turned out AWESOME! Between the salmon, walnuts on the green beans and avocado in the homemade "tartar sauce" I'm fairly certain we cured any heart disease we may have had with the influx of Omega3's.

What this photo fails to show is me dropping the baby monitor (you know, the big ones with a screen) directly on the rim of my wine glass, shattering it and sending wine and glass everywhere. Watch out for those sneaky, slippery baby monitors!

2) Henry is consistently sleeping 4-6 hours straight at night. No further explanation necessary on how &$^%*&! amazing that is.

3) My new phone case arrived! Nordstrom, you have some work to do on your shipping. I ordered my J Crew dress and the phone case at the same time, and it took a full week longer to get the case... Just sayin'! But, it's super cute, and a fun change from the brightly colored case I used to have on my iPhone.

I'm so fancy... You already knowwwww. Yup, that song will be stuck in your head all day long now! Muhahaha

4) It was a social media EXPLOSION for An Uncomplicated Life Blog, which was not only great to see, but made my week seriously fun. All the comments, likes, emails and TWO Liebster Awards made this week one of the best yet, and made me so excited to watch my little baby blog grow! Thanks to YOU, dear readers :)

5) Our doggies came home! As I said, Kirk was traveling all week for work, and that means I have four people/critters depending on me for food, bathroom needs, baths... Which gets excessive. So we board our doggies when he's going to be gone all week to get that number down to two (me and H). But I miss these guys when they're not here! Also, my floors are filthy because I spill about 52% of my food and no dogs means there's nobody there to clean up after me...

Littlest doggie, Otis Beaufort

I hope you all go and enjoy yourselves this weekend! Be sure to stop by these other kicka$$ bloggers I link up with every Friday, too:

  1. I bet you miss your pooches, but it has to be a relief to not have to take care of them while trying to care for your son alone right now!

I LOVE that iPhone case! How adorable. I think it's kind of funny how some companies have AMAZING shipping departments and others are just lack luster. (*cough* modcloth.com *cough*).

YAY for Henry sleeping!! That's a HUGE feat.

I can't wait to put my Leibster post up! :D EEK.

BTW -- are you training for a marathon right now? Have you ever run one? I'm training for my first (spoiler alert!) ;)

    1. Ohhh, modcloth is BAD. I don't even shop around that site anymore because I would find a dress I loved and wouldn't you know... My size was the only one they didn't have! If I could even figure out what size I was because everything is on someone who is only about 5'2... Ok, modcloth rant done.

Yes, I've run multiple marathons and half marathons. I'm not currently training for one... Because I just got myself back up to 4.5 miles after having a baby 11 weeks ago and that's not sufficient training distance! It's crazy how hard it is after you pop one of those baby things out. But if you're looking for tips/advice, I've got some!

  2. Yummmmm! Your salmon/green bean dinner looks delicious! Nordstom's shipping time is a little on the slow side...but it is free...so I don't mind waiting an extra day or two!

    1. Thanks Leslie, it was good! And very true about Nordstrom shipping... Slow but free, so it's a wash!

  3. Haha! Yeah, newborns be cray cray. But every day is getting a bit easier, and we're really close to being out of the dreaded "fourth trimester"! C'mon August 16... (Not that things will magically get better on that day - but there's a chance, right?! RIGHT??)

Have a great weekend Kathy! Your blog is HILARIOUS :)

  4. Awww... My boys are grown and although I'm grateful to be able to enjoy my sleep, I hope that you enjoy that babe while you can! Time flies by SO fast. Except when you're waiting for a fun package. I order almost everything from amazon.com. Sometimes I even pay extra so it's here the next day! ;)

Thanks for the twit-vite! I'm glad that I linked up with you!

    1. Hey Teri! Yes, I'm enjoying him immensely. He's getting to be a really fun age where he "talks" a lot and is figuring out he has arms, legs and a tongue! He's constantly sticking his tongue out at me and it's hilarious. Thanks for stopping by!
