High Five for Friday!

If you follow this blog regularly, especially on social media, you know that I was MIA for most the week. Our household got rocked with the sickness. All the sickness! All of it.

Both Henry and myself. It was a rough one.

In light of nasty stomach bugs, sinus infections and general colds, here's what I'm thankful for:

1) Hot baths. Nothing like a good mineral soak when you feel icky.

I've shared my love for Aura Cacia bath soaks before. They're amazing. If you haven't yet, try one!

2) Tissues with lotion added to them. Man, do noses get raw quickly!

3) Baby Vick's Vapor Rub. It's much more mild than the traditional stuff, and they added lavender and rosemary to the mix. Henry loves it rubbed on his nose, chest and feet.

This has been Henry's salvation this week.

4) Cold bathroom floors mixed with warm bathroom floor rugs. I don't think I need to explain that one further. Don't act like you've never been there!

5) Of course when I'm unable to leave a tiled room, if you catch my drift, my husband is away on a business trip. And since I'm a SAHM, Henry is still my responsibility. This week brought new meaning to "mom's don't get sick days." While hubs couldn't be here, he knew we were suffering. And sent flowers from his trip to St. Louis. Awwwww!

I hope nobody was as sick as we were this past week! Here's to a healthy, happy weekend :)

  2. Girl! I didn't realize you were THAT sick. I'm so sorry!

Vick's Vapor Rub has always been one of my favorite "sick" things. It just makes me feel so much better.

I need to try those bath salts. Seriously. Thanks for posting what they are, now I can buy some!

Gorgeous flowers and thoughtful husband. :)

  3. oh you poor things, feel better soon! Cold bathroom floors.. yeah they are my favourite thing when I'm sick. I just grab a pillow, blanket and bucket and just lay in there in whole time. No shame.

    1. Haha, I knew I could count on you to be honest with me! Does anyone lay anywhere else when they're *that* level of sick?! I don't think so.

  4. My local health food store sells those minerals baths. I bought one for a friend but have yet to try one out for myself.
So sorry you had a yucky week! You are a superhero for making it through all that. I fall apart when my husband leaves and I have to take care of myself and our animals...even when I'm healthy. You deserve all the pretty flowers :) Hope you're feeling better and can enjoy your weekend!

  5. I'm sorry you guys were sick!! I always wondered if moms feel especially like superheros after getting through a time like that even though I'm sure superhero status is deserved daily without having to battle sickness! Hope you both are feeling better! Lots of love to both of you!! xx

    1. If a superhero feels like an unshowered, exhausted, haven't-worn-makeup-in-a-week-mess, then yup - I feel just like one! Thanks for the love, we're so thankful to be feeling better now!

(Side note, your new blog is beautiful!)

  6. I hope you are all feeling better or at least on the upside of it all! I just got over the sickness as well! It really takes everything out of you doesn't it!? Those bath salts look great - I'm so glad you posted them - headed out to buy them over the weekend!

    1. It is going around! I'm glad you're feeling better after being struck by it. You can find the bath salts at Whole Foods and likely other co-op/natural health food stores. Definitely check them out!

  9. I hope you guys are feeling better. Such a sweet gift from your husband. Those bath soaks look amazing! Where do you buy them? I feel like I've seen that brand at Sprouts or Trader Joe's...

    1. I bet they're at Sprouts! I got these babies at Whole Foods. Checky-check them out! Kirk is always good about doing sweet things for me... Even if I did plot his hypothetical murder while heaving on the bathroom floor with a screaming baby in the next room as he slept peacefully in a four star hotel... Kidding! I joke. But you get me ;)

  11. Oh I'm sorry! We had the stomach bug travel around our house last week. It was the first time my little one has ever thrown-up so it was rough to say the least. That is so sweet of your hubby to get you some flowers. I'm sure that was just the roughest week ever since you were sick too. I'm stressing just thinking about what that would be like! I hope you have some stress-free, healthy, relaxing days on the horizon!

    1. Jeez, there is something going around! Glad you all feel better! I am TERRIFIED of the day Henry throws up. I can handle endless blood, guts and poo... But vomit? Nope! No ma'am. Not even a little bit. I don't know what I'm going to do!

It was a bad week, but hubs let me sleep in both days this weekend and take a long nap on Saturday, so life is pretty dang great now! Have a great remainder of the weekend :)

  12. So sorry you haven't been feeling well my dear! I hope it has passed. Love the Vicks baby rub! I made my own chest rub using essential oils but still use the Vicks in conjunction. So sweet your hubby sent you flowers. What a thoughtful guy.

    1. I was defusing some oils, but kiddo was so stuffy that I had to go the more traditional route too! I think using them in conjunction is the way to go, for sure. Yup, I married a keeper!

  13. Aww it's the worst when the babies are sick!! Hope you all are feeling better soon! Johnson & Johnson has a Vapor Bath soap for babies that we like when they are feeling stuffy!

    1. It is rough when babies are sick, and it's even worse when mama is sick, too! I'll have to look for that baby wash... I usually don't do J&J products because there's too many chemicals in them, but I caved and got the Vicks, so.... I may cave again!
